Meenakshi Temple in Madurai

1.      सर्वेभ्यो नमः │

·         sarvebhyo namaḥ

             Hello, everyone.

2.      मम नाम कोन्ग्पोपः │

·         mama nāma kongpopaḥ

        My name is Kongpop

3.      अद्य मेलनेन बहु सन्तोषः│

·         adya melanena bahu santoṣaḥ

             Nice to meet you today.

4.      अहम् दर्शयिता अस्मि , आगच्छन्तु │

·         aham darśayitā asmi, āgacchantu

             I am tour guide, come on.

5.      इदानीम् मदुरै नगरे वाहनेन गच्छामः │

·         idānīm madurai nagare vāhanena gacchāmaḥ

             We are driving on the streets of Madurai now.

6.      मदुरै नगरम् तमिल् नद राज्यस्य त्रितीयम् ब्रुहत्तनम् नगरम् │

·         madurai nagaram tamil nada rājyasya tritīyam bruhattanam nagaram

       Madurai is the third largest city in the state of Tamil Nadu,

7.      छेन्नै चोइम्बतोरे नगराभ्याम् अनन्तरम् │

·         chennai - coimbatore nagarābhyām anantaram

             after Chennai and Coimbatore

8.      इदानीम् प्रसिद्धस्य मदुरै मेएनक्स्हि देवालयस्य │

·         idānīm prasiddhasya madurai meenakshi devālayasya

        We are now at the entrance of the renowned Madurai Meenakshi Temple.

9.      एस्हः ब्रुहत् देवालयः │

·         eshaḥ bruhat devālayaḥ

        The temple is huge.

10.  दस्हलक्स्हस्हः यात्रिकाः प्रतिवर्स्हं अत्र देवदर्स्हार्थम् आगच्छन्ति │

·         dashalakshashaḥ yātrikāḥ prativarshaṃ atra devadarshārtham āgacchanti

        Millions of devotees come to pray here every year.

11.  मेएनक्स्हि देवालयम् परितः विद्यमानाः मार्गाः │

·         meenakshi devālayam paritaḥ vidyamānāḥ mārgāḥ

        The streets surrounding the Meenakshi Temple are so vibrant.

12.  आपनैः, भोजनावरिभिः, अन्यविक्रेत्रुभिः च पूरिताः सन्ति │

·         āpanaiḥ, bhojanāvaribhiḥ, anyavikretrubhiḥ ca pūritāḥ santi

        There are several shops, food stalls, and other vendors on every side.

13.  अत्र इद्लि सम्बर्, बहुविधौपसेछनानि च सन्ति │

·         atra idli sambar, bahuvidha-upasechanāni ca santi

        Here we have idli, sambar, and various chutneys.

14.  एतत् रुचिकरम् पारम्परिकम् दक्स्हिनभारतीयम् भोजनम् │

·         etat rucikaram pāramparikam dakshina-bhāratīyam bhojanam

             It is such a classic and delicious South Indian meal.

Elephant Hill in Tiruchi

15.  मदुरै नगरात् तिरुछि नगरम् गमनमार्गे गजस्हैलम् द्रस्ह्तुम् स्हक्नुमः │

·         madurai nagarāt tiruchi nagaram gamanamārge gajashailam drashtum shaknumaḥ

       We can see Elephant Hill on the road from Madurai to Tiruchi.

16.  उपविस्हन्तु गजः इव सः पर्वतः द्रुस्ह्यते│

·         upavishantu gajaḥ iva saḥ parvataḥ drushyate

       It looks like an elephant in a sitting position.

17.  तत्र केचन जैनहिन्दु देवालयाः सन्ति │

·         tatra kecana Jaina-Hindu devālayāḥ santi

       There are a few Jain and Hindu temples on the hill.

18.  इदानीम् तिरुछि हगरे स्मः │

·         idānīm tiruchi hagare smaḥ

        We are now in the city of Tiruchi. [On the road to Tiruchi]

19.  अस्माकम् पुरतः मलैक्कोत्तै अथवा रोच्क्fओर्त् अथवा पर्वतदुरः देवालयः वर्तते │

·         asmākam purataḥ malaikkottai athavā rockfort athavā parvataduraḥ devālayaḥ vartate

       Just in front of us is Malaikkottai or Rockfort Temple.

20.  स्हिखरे गनेस्ह्मदिरम् सप्तमे स्हताब्दे निर्मितम् │

·         shikhare Ganesh-madiram saptame shatābde nirmitam

       The temple on the hill is dedicated to Lord Genesha and built in the 7^th century.

21.  अत्र ईक्स्हा बहु सन्दरम् अस्ति │

·         atra īkshā bahu sandaram asti

       The view is magnificent here.

Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam

22.  एस्हः ग्रामः स्रिरन्गम् │

·         eshaḥ grāmaḥ srirangam

             It is the town of Srirangam.

23.  तिरुछि नगरस्य उत्तरदिस्हायाम् नातिदूरे अस्ति │

·         Trucchi nagarasya uttara-dishāyām nātidūre asti

        In front of us is the famous Ranganathaswamy Temple.

 

24.  अस्मिन् लोके ब्रुहत्तमेस्हु हिन्दु मन्दिरेस्हु अन्यतमम् │

·         asmin loke bruhattameshu hindu mandireshu anyatamam

       It is one of the largest Hindu temples in the world.

25.  रन्गनथस्wअम्य् मन्दिरस्य पुरतः मुरलि चोffएए इति प्रसिद्धः काफी पानालयः अस्ति │

- ranganathaswamy mandirasya purataḥ murali coffee iti prasiddhaḥ kāphī pānālayaḥ asti

- Right across from the Ranganathaswamy Temple is an amazing coffee shop called Mulari Coffee.

26. अत्र बुहु रुचिकरम् काफीपानम् मया प्राप्तम् │

·         atra buhu rucikaram kāphī-pānam mayā prāptam

            It serves some of the best filter coffee I have ever had.

Bruhadeeswara Temple in Tharjavur

     27. इदानीम् थन्जवुर् नगरे विस्ह्वप्रसिद्धस्य ब्रुहदीस्ह्वर मन्दिरस्य अन्तः स्मः │

·         idānīm thanjavur nagare vishvaprasiddhasya bruhadīshvara mandirasya antaḥ smaḥ

       We are now inside the famous Bruhadeeswara Temple in Tharjavur.

28.  रा जराजछोलः इति विख्यातः तमिल् राजा सहस्रवर्स्हेभ्यः पूर्वन् एतत् मन्दिरम् निर्मितवान्│

·         rā jarājacholaḥ iti vikhyātaḥ tamil rājā sahasravarshebhyaḥ pūrvan etat mandiram nirmitavān

·         It was built by the great Tamil King Rajaraja  Chola over a thousand years ago.

29.  अत्र नन्देः ब्रुहतीम् मूर्तिम् द्रस्ह्तुम् स्हक्नुमः │

·         atra  nandeḥ bruhatīm mūrtim drashtum shaknumaḥ

       Here we can see a large statue of Nandi.

30.  नन्दिः दैविकव्रुस्हभः स्हिवस्य वाहनम् च │

·         nandiḥ daivikavrushabhaḥ shivasya vāhanam ca

       Nandi is the divine bull and the vehicle of Shiva.

31.  म्रुदन्गवाद्यम् अपि वादयति इति प्रसिद्धः विस्हयः │

·         mrudangavādyam api vādayati iti prasiddhaḥ vishayaḥ

       He is also known for playing the Mridangam.

Venkateshwara Temple in Tirupati

32.  इदानीम् तिरुपति नगरे विस्ह्वप्रसिद्धे वेन्कतेस्ह्wअर मन्दिरे स्मः │

·         idānīm Tirupati nagare vishva-prasiddhe Venkateshwara mandire smaḥ

·         We are now standing outside the world-famous Venkateshwara Temple in Tirupati.

33.  समग्रविस्ह्वे एतम् मन्दिरम् प्रतिआगम्यमानानाम् │

·         samagravishve etam mandiram prati-āgamyamānānām

            This temple is the most-visited

34.  यात्रिकानाम् सन्ख्य अधिकत्मा │

·         yātrikānām  sankhya adhikatmā

       A holy place in the world.

35.  कोतिस्हः यात्रिकाः प्रतिवर्स्हम् अत्र देवदर्स्हनार्थम् आगच्छन्ति │

·         kotishaḥ yātrikāḥ prativarsham atra devadarshanārtham āgacchanti

      Tens of millions of pilgrims come here to pray every year.

36.  भगवान् वेन्कतेस्ह्wअरः अस्य मन्दिरस्य मुख्यदेवता │

·         bhagavān venkateshwaraḥ asya mandirasya mukhyadevatā

             Lord Venkateshwara is the presiding deity here.

37.  सः विस्ह्नोः अवतरः │

·         saḥ vishnoḥ avataraḥ

       He is an incarnation of Vishnu

38.  भवन्तः अनुनन्दितवान् इति अस्हम्सते │

·         bhavantaḥ anunanditavān iti ashamsate
